Abstract: Many studies have reported evidence that investment in forecasting can bring huge savings to companies. However, earlier surveys (Merrick et al., 2006, Byrne et al., 2006) indicate that companies are less satisfied and less familiar with forecasting techniques then their counterparts of ten and twenty years ago. In this paper, we provide some evidence on forecasting performance, satisfactory aspect and familiarity with forecasting techniques. We also discuss how research and consulting in time series modeling and forecasting can improve forecasting accuracy on companies.
