| Summary | An interesting class of billiards are outer billiards introduced by May and later popularized by Moser. On convex polygons, outer billiards are piecewise isometries. The dynamics of outer billiards on triangles and the square is very simple: every orbit is periodic. Dissipative outer billiards have a contracting reflection law and belong to the class of piecewise contractions. Typically, the dynamics of dissipative outer billiards on polygons is asymptotically periodic. |
