TitleApplications of statistical methods in education research - Continuation
ParticipantsAdriana Cornea-Madeira (Principal Investigator), Nuno Crato
SummaryBuilding on the previous phases of this research program, the 2026 project continues the analysis of
International Large-Scale Assessment (ILSA) studies, with a particular focus on statistical
methodologies for assessing educational outcomes. The release of previous PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS
results has provided a wealth of data, and this project aims to refine the understanding of the
statistical relationships between education policies, socioeconomic factors, and student
performance.

For the current phase, we will analyse the new PISA results, which will be available still in 2026.
A key contribution will be the fostering of international collaboration for further enhance the
robustness of comparative education studies and offer policy-relevant insights into lingering
post-pandemic education challenges.

This project includes the preparation of the new LESE, Lisbon Economics and Statistics of Education,
Cemapre-Nova Research conference, which will take place in January 2027 in ISEG.
