TitleStatistical Modelling in Higher Education Research

SummaryThe project follows open research questions about students’ persistence and performance in Higher
Education (HE) (Ferrão et al., 2020; Ferrão & Almeida, 2018, 2019). Specifically, the study
explores topics such as equity in HE (Ferrão, Almeida, & Ferreira, 2020; Ferrão, Barros, Bof, &
Oliveira, 2018; Travitzki, Ferrão, & Couto, 2016). As this includes the statistical analysis and
modelling of data obtained through administrative records that configure the concept of big
identifiable data (Shlomo & Goldstein, 2015), methodological aspects related to the treatment of
large and complex data or aspects related to the treatment of data anonymization will also be
considered, in line with work in progress (Prata et al., 2020; Santos et al., 2020). Microdata such
as those collected by RAIDES in Portugal or by ENADE in Brazil are considered for modelling
purposes.
