Uncertainty Quantification

Rui Paulo
(ISEG and CEMAPRE)

Abstract: In the context of a realistic application (combustion of natural gas), we will introduce the main ideas of uncertainty quantification. Two approaches to this problem will be described, one which is statistical and Bayesian, and another one which is deterministic and based on semidefinite programming algorithms. The results of these two approaches are then compared in the context of the realistic application, with an emphasis on the calibration and prediction problems.
